Project computers for schools 2005

In recent years, we have donated small amounts of computers to Ukrainain schools. For this project, we have decided on a large scale approach
.
We have invited approximately 60 schools from Zhytomyr and the surrounding region (as marked on the map) to apply for the project.

You can find specimens of the letter of invitation invitation and the application form here.

In order to qualify, the schools have to send in two educational programs, for which the computers will be used.

The first program is mandatory: The computers have to be used for teaching English and (where possible) internet use. Our aim is to give the children wider access to information and knowledge from around the world, hoping that it might stimulate their personal development.

The schools are free to select or create the second educational program. We also require an overview of the schools current computer equipment. Naturally, there will be strict terms of use regarding displacement of donated equipment and the like. We will carry out unannounced inspections to verify the presence and agreed use of the computers. These inspections will either be carried out by our foundation (we go to Ukraine 3 times a year on average), or else by fellow humanitarian organisations, some of which are members of
Platform Samenwerking Nederland-Oekraïne. This project will also be monitored by the Ukrainian Parliament´s Committee on Humanitarian Affairs.

Based on the applications, we will select a number of schools (how many exactly will depend on the number of computers we can collect. The collection drive will go on until the last possible moment). The computers will be delivered in several
Shipments in 2005. For the donors of computers, we will have a list of the receiving schools and pictures proving the actual installation of their computers.
